Man this series took a quick nose dive. After being disappointed by number three but getting back on track with number four we take a wrong turn again and get number five. Number five picks up where number four left off with the same cannibals but now they are working with some most wanted criminal. There are a group of kids going to a festival but everything quickly goes bad when they are caught with a load of drugs. While everybody is out enjoying the festival our main group of kids are trying to survive the cannibals along with a police officer.

I feel like this franchise has thrived off of having awesome kills but this movie is one of the worst. One part you almost get an awesome kill where a guy gets electrocuted but it’s not a main character so it just didn’t have the same effect. Another part they have a main character tied between the truck and something else and it looks like they are going to split him in half. That doesn’t happen they just beat him until his legs split in half. It just seemed like they wanted to go for the all out kill but then watered it down.

Next thing, this movie has horrible acting and writing. At the beginning a news reporter is running from the cannibals and she says her lines like she is just reading them off the script. The cannibals feel less intimidating and the most wanted guy is annoying. Somehow every person in the town is at the festival and only one cop stayed in town. I think if they would have had the cannibals go crazy and massacre the festival this movie would have been way better. All in all this movie lacks the scare and the thrill of a good horror movie.

I had high hopes for part five and I was very let down and I don’t have any high hopes for the sixth and final installment. Let’s just hope if they do ever revive this franchise they do it right. I’m going to give part five a one out of five. Thanks for reading!
