This was my first time seeing this movie and the third installment left a bad taste in my mouth. After this one I won’t say the franchise is saved but it got back on the right track. Number four opens up with the inbred cannibals in a sanitarium at a young age. They break out and three brothers are behind it. Years past and we join a group of college kids heading out on a ski trip. After taking a wrong turn (who would have thought it right?) on their snowmobiles they end up at the sanitarium to seek shelter. With the winter storm outside and the inbred cannibals inside who will survive?

What improvements did this movie make compared to the third installment? For one the kills. From frying the doctors brain with electricity to twisting up one of the girl’s insides. There was everything you wanted with plenty of blood to go around. There’s one scene where they are skinning a guy piece by piece while he’s alive and cooking him! The makeup of the cannibals were way better done and maybe the best since the original. This movie over all was a big improvement over number three in my opinion but it wasn’t perfect.

I don’t like how long it took for the movie to get going. Yeah you have the scene at the beginning showing these brothers at a young age. But until you actually get some action with the main characters seems to take some time for me. Once it gets going though it goes full throttle. The character development for the college kids was lacking as you seemed to know more about the cannibals. As with a lot of slasher movies the kids were just there for a body count. Not always bad but I would like to know the characters better.

Like I said before number four is better than number three. If you want a fun slasher movie go check this one out! I’m going to put this one up there with number one and number two and give it a three out of five stars. Thanks for reading!
