Jordan Peele makes his horror debut and it made a splash in the horror industry. Daniel Kaluuya plays Chris Washington and his girlfriend Rose played by Allison Williams take a trip to see Rose’s parents. What Chris doesn’t know is that the family “kidnaps” African Americans and bids them off to rich white people. They then replace part of the African American’s brain with the white person’s brain so the white person is in control of the body.
I didn’t see this movie right away but I heard so much about it I had to go grab it. When I first watched it I was mad at myself for not watching it sooner. My favorite horror is slasher but I love psychological as well and this movie will mess with your mind. Every time I watch it I pick up clues that are right there in your face but you don’t realize it at first. Everything to me is done right in this movie from the acting to the music to the storyline. There’s also some humor sprinkled into this movie but it’s not cheesy or over done. I believe a horror movie can have some good comedy mixed in and still be a great horror movie.
One of my favorite parts is when Chris is sitting in the chair and Rose’s mom is hypnotizing him. When she is asking him questions and he’s telling the story about his mom. It gives me chills because it feels so real and credit that to amazing acting. The character development makes you care for Chris and hats off to Daniel Kaluuya and Jordan Peele for an amazing job.
The only problem I had with this movie was towards the end. Chris is trying to leave the house when he gets attacked by Rose’s brother and there is a ton of commotion. Then when Chris gets out he gets in a car and a little down the road hits “” and Rose hears it. How does she hear that but she didn’t hear all the commotion down stairs? Doesn’t make since to me but hey it’s no big deal.
I’m giving this movie a 5 out of 5. I enjoy watching it over and over again. Go check this movie out or get out! Thanks for reading! Now sink to the floor.
