When one of your biggest accolades is winning “worst film” at the 2003 Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association Awards then you need to find a new hobby. I mean that is nothing to brag about. But I’ll agree this movie is a snoozer. It’s about this girl who was killed by a man who calls himself “the doctor” and no it’s not Doctor Who. She is somehow alive on the interwebs and is challenging people to find her in 48 hours or they die. Well our two awesome heroes take up the challenge and it’s a race against time! Anyways so she doesn’t just want to be found she wants revenge and she does by our hero logging into fear dot com while “the doctor” is watching. This movie puts no fear in the audience because it is so ridiculous and boring.
The sad thing in all this is I really can’t find any good in the movie. The acting is terrible along with the writing. They did well on the shooting and the setting but that’s where it ends. I feel like this movie could have been so much more with 2002 being shortly after Y2K and the internet really taking off. But this movie comes up short in so many aspects that you wonder how it made it to the theatre. With movies like Unfriended taking over as the internet horror fear dot com is left in the corner of the internet where nobody goes.
Unless you are into bad horror movies then don’t go check fear dot com out. I’m going to give this a one out of five as it missed everything in what makes a horror movie a horror movie.
