A year after the events of the second installment we find out there are more kids being haunted by Freddie Krueger because they are the last of the Elm Street kids. We start off by seeing Kristen Parker (Patricia Arquette) building a dollhouse that resembles the house Nancy lived in. After being cut in her dream her mom finds her in the bathroom at what looks like attempted suicide. Off she goes to a psychiatric ward where she meets some more teenagers that are struggling with their dreams. Of course who comes to save the day? Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp). As Nancy and the teens fight to stay alive Freddie is taking them out one by one. The bad part is that no other adult believes the teens or Nancy. The fight with Freddie Kruger continues in part three.

To me this should have been the sequel to the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous one and I thought this one was much better. One main reason is because they brought back Nancy. She is one of the best final girls and come on she beat Freddie! Another reason is they got away with the whole Freddie possessing bodies crap that I hated. This guy can kill people in their dreams he doesn’t need to possess a body. I also liked the idea of people having super powers in their dreams as it gave a new idea to the series and gave the victims a fighting chance. Freddie was growing more powerful than the last time Nancy had fought him so they needed all the advantage they could get. The kills in this movie reflect something about the person like one girl wants to be a movie star so Freddie slams her head into a TV. Another kill is a guy who likes string puppets so Freddie turns him into one and makes him fall off the building. We watch horror movies for great kills and this one has them.

While this movie is great it did have some bad parts. One thing that kept bothering me is when Kristen went into a dream and she's trying to get out and in the process pulls Nancy into the dream. Afterwards Nancy tells her let’s get out of here and Kristen gets them out. Why didn’t Kristen just do that from the beginning? It’s not a deal breaker for me but it just kind of boggles my mind. The CGI is terrible in some parts especially the part when Freddie battles on Earth and he is just bones. None of that looks realistic but it’s the 80’s. This movie has some flaws but I feel like in this one they went all in and I think it’s a must watch.

At the end of the day I enjoy this movie much more than the second one. I’m going to give this movie a four out of five. Go check it out if you haven’t! If you have what are your thoughts? Thanks for reading!
